What is better a body lift kit or a suspension lift kit?

Body lift kits and suspension lift kits each have their own advantages and disadvantages, making it difficult to simply determine which one is better. Ultimately, the choice depends on your specific needs.

Body lift kits are designed to increase the height of the vehicle by adding pads between the body and frame. Their primary advantages include relatively simple installation and low cost. This method allows for an increase in ground clearance without altering the original suspension geometry, making it suitable for slightly raising the vehicle height to adapt to slightly more complex road conditions or installing slightly larger tires. However, they provide limited improvement in vehicle handling and comfort, and excessive lifting may affect the stability of vehicle operation.

On the other hand, suspension lift kits are used to lift the vehicle by replacing or modifying suspension system components such as springs, shock absorbers, etc. Their advantage lies in their ability to better enhance the off-road performance of the vehicle, as they can increase the suspension travel, allowing the vehicle to have better passability and adaptability when passing through rough terrain. Additionally, the stiffness and damping of the suspension can be adjusted according to different needs, improving the vehicle’s handling. However, their installation is relatively complex, the cost is high, and if not modified properly, it may affect the safety and reliability of the vehicle.

Body lift kits simply increase the height of the vehicle and do not improve its driving and other performance such as off-road, racing, etc., while suspension lift kits increase the height of the vehicle while meeting certain performance improvements. Therefore, if you have functional requirements such as off-road, track, and load bearing, then undoubtedly you should choose the suspension lifting kit.
